Oil industry leader Petron Corporation has been tapped as the official fuel of the Philippine Leg of the 2016 Formula 4 South East Asia (F4/SEA) Championship, scheduled to run from October 15-16 at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga.
As the largest oil refining and marketing company in the Philippines and a leading player in the Malaysian market, Petron has made its mark as a fuel innovator, by creating a full range of gasoline and diesel fuels that deliver better power, better mileage, and better engine protection.
According to Petron Corporation President and CEO Ramon S. Ang, himself an avid motorsports enthusiast, “We are honored to be a part of the Formula 4 South East Asia championship, and we hope that the drivers will appreciate the power and other benefits of locally-manufactured and formulated Petron fuels.”
Promoted by the Asian Autosport Action (AAA) group headed by Peter Thompson, F4/SEA offers a cost-effective first step to an FIA-certified career ladder in formula racing. The F4/SEA program focuses on driver experience and development by ensuring a level playing field in a one-make FIA single-operator championship using FIA-F4 homologated race cars and engines. All drivers have access to race and engine data, and learn from race engineers and coaches, so winning is based on race craft and not performance aids. Meritus. GP provides race engineering services supported by race engineers, winning driver coaches, and professional technicians and mechanics.
The 2016 F4/SEA calendar kicked off last August with the first event at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia. The Philippine leg is the second event in the series, and will consist of six races. Drivers are expected to start testing and coaching on October 13-14 with the official events scheduled to commence on Saturday, October 15, before concluding on Sunday, October 16.
Subsequent legs are scheduled in Indonesia on November 11-13, Malaysia on December 9-11, Thailand on January 6-8, 2017, and concluding in Malaysia on January 20-22, 2017.
